DROOLING FOR SCOUT!!!

Are you hoping for a fresh start this spring? Are you wanting to de-clutter in style? Well, Bungalow, home of Scout, may be able to help! They have storage bins to totes, from laptop sleeves to rugs. Their items are strong, durable and waterproof. With Easter just around the corner, their totes or storage bins would make a fun and usable easter basket!

Turns out, Bungalow is a fairly new company with, that's right...southern roots! Their first showroom was in Atlanta, Georgia in January 2005.

Their mascot, Scout...inspired their famous logo. Here is a pic of Scout and his furry friends.

I love how they presented their different color schemes! Which are you?

Are you neutral?

Are you blue-green?

Are you pink?

Are you multi-color?

You can snatch an amazing Scout from their website or at a local shop.

Here is a list of stores that carry Scout in the Columbia area:

Gibsons on Devine Street
Strobler on Forest Drive
Cottage & Vine on Forest Drive
Soak on Forest Drive
The Willows on Sunset Blvd
Urban Nirvana on North Lake Drive and Forest Drive

WHAT TO DO ABOVE THE SOFA?

Finding something for the wall behind your sofa can be stressful. When you think of all the elements in the space you wish to fill, you have a few things to consider-length of your sofa, wall space (height of ceiling, etc.), materials used in room. You should never use small artwork over a normal to large sofa because it can appear disproportionate and too small or dinky for the space.

If it has been difficult finding a suitably scaled, single painting or print, consider using a collection of prints. Using multiple prints in a tight grid can look awesome! Remember that a great idea is to center the artwork over your sofa by extending it about 2/3 the length of your sofa on the wall.

Hope that helps!

CORAL

I have always been attracted to the color coral. One of my favorite necklaces is my J.Crew coral necklace that's defintely a statement piece. It is a color that is diffucult to put into one box being a reddish, pinkish shade of orange.

I'm sure we will be seeing alot more of it in home design with Pantone, the color authority, declaring it to be a hit for Fall 2010 in fashion. Coral is easy to mix in with your brown, gray and tourqouise decor because it is a complementary color. Remember to keep your eyes open for it in stores!

Here are a few pics with a dash of coral:

Have a great Monday!!!!!!

ISLE OF PALMS ON MY MIND

I'm wishing I was on my favorite beach right now--Isle of Palms.

I love those lazy days spent in the sun..

with the breeze flowing thru my hair..

and the sand running thru my toes

...hearing the waves crash and birds chirping all around.

Have a wonderful weekend!

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...TUFTED FURNITURE

One of my favorite things is tufted furniture.

You see it mostly in sofas, chairs, settees, benches and headboards. I love that it has a tailored look! Tufted furniture instantly offers visual interest and style in a space. It adds dimension to upholstery because it highlights the fabric and casts shadows in the tufts. Who can resist a classic leather tufted chair--with that aged, worn look? Not me! Another option is using a different fabric--like the chair above. It transforms the chair and makes it into something soft and feminine.

Is tufting for you?

THE HEART OF A HOME

They say the kitchen is the heart of a home. Being in Virginia Beach all weekend for my husband's marathon somehow reminded me of the importance of eating well, which of course reminded of the importance of having a well decorated kitchen. Go figure? One of our upcoming projects is a backsplash makeover.

Searching for tile in a home store is like searching for which candy you will choose to scoop into your little plastic bag. There are many options! Just like many things in your home, kitchen tile may help to convey your personal style. The location of your home plays a huge role. For example, if you live near water, glass mosaic tile is beautiful. The way light reflects glass tile really brings the ocean or the lake indoors. What if your style is tuscan? Using deep colors-such as reds, blues, oranges-is lovely. What if your style is modern? There are so many cool, sleek options. For me, I am always drawn to shiney, white subway tile. I enjoy making the backsplash a clean, timeless backdrop and not the focal point in a space.
